A new study is beginning soon — the First Book of Esdras: An Introduction to the Apocrypha. This will be a five-week Zoom study, beginning Monday, January 15, @ 6:30pm.
Esdras tells the story of the Exile, the return from Exile and the rebuilding of the temple — roughly the period from late seventh century b.c.e. to the fifth century. Josiah, perhaps the last great king of Israel; Zerubbabel, who led the rebuilding of the temple; and Ezra, considered by many to be a second Moses; are the leading figures in the narrative. This study also serves as an introduction to the Apocrypha and the Septuagint.
A new video and handout will be available on Northgate’s website each week prior to the discussion sessions. To join the ZOOM discussion, or if you have additional questions, please contact send an email to [email protected] or call the church office at 972/252-8519.
