New ZOOM Study on Edras Begins January 15th

jmartwalNews & Events

Beginning in January, we will have a new study — the First Book of Esdras: An Introduction to the Apocrypha.  It will be a five-week Zoom study, with an in-person option, beginning Monday, January 15th.

Esdras tells the story of the Exile, the return from Exile and the rebuilding of the temple — roughly the period from late seventh century b.c.e. to the fifth century. Josiah, perhaps the last great king of Israel; Zerubbabel, who led the rebuilding of the temple; and Ezra, considered by many to be a second Moses, are the leading figures in the narrative. This study also serves as an introduction to the Apocrypha and the Septuagint.

A sign-up sheet is available in the Narthex, or you can send an email to [email protected]. There will be a thirty-minute video and a handout online each week, followed by a discussion session on Monday evenings.
